| Shoulder Injury - Part 3 |

It has been over three weeks since I injured my right shoulder. Luckily, all has gone well and I am now at least 90% recovered. I have no pain in my shoulder, have recovered full range of motion and continue to grow stronger. I was cleaning my garage yesterday, lifting and moving things overhead. Three weeks ago, that never would have happened, furthermore, I have no pain symptoms today. The point of all this is that, even though an injury may seem severe at first and our initial impressions are that it will require months to heal with a possible trip to the surgeon, most of the time this is not the case. The reality is that with common sense and the applications of basic physical therapy interventions, most (greater than 80%) injuries heal without surgical intervention. I was lucky enough with my injury to understand what was occurring with my shoulder and why; but mainly not to overdo activity initially following the injury and gradually working back into regular activities. However, if you have suffered an injury to your shoulder that has not healed well on its own with conservative measures, the Physical Therapists at Alliance Physical Therapy can fully evaluate your shoulder and determine whether structured physical therapy is appropriate or if diagnostic testing should be performed. Yours in health, Matt
